At Plum Counselling, we are here to support children, youth, and adults with symptoms of trauma, anxiety, low mood, and stress. We aim to create a warm and empathetic environment throughout the counselling journey.
We offer flexible counselling options for persons across BC. Support is available in-person at our Dawson Creek location, as well as, virtually and by phone.
At Plum Counselling, we are dedicated to supporting individuals affected by trauma. Our approach is grounded in trauma-informed and responsive practice. We offer specialized support for those experiencing trauma and gender-based violence, using a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your needs, including:

Vanessa Key Craig BSW, MSW, RSW / Founder
Vanessa is a Registered Social Worker with an anti-oppressive, narrative, and somatic lens, and is located on Treaty 8 territory and the traditional home of the Cree, Dane-Zaa, Saulteau, Sikanni and Slavey First Nations peoples (Dawson Creek). She offers virtual, telephone, and in-person counselling options. She supports children, youth, adults, and families who struggle with Complex Trauma, Early Childhood Trauma, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Neglect, Gender-Based Violence, Sexual Violence, and Racialized Trauma.
Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria and a Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University, bringing over 12 years of experience to her practice. She is dedicated to decolonizing her approach and advocates for cultural sensitivity and competency in therapy. Vanessa creates a comfortable and inclusive space where children, youth, adults, and families can explore mental health, trauma, goals, stories, and healing.
Her areas of specialization include trauma and gender-based violence. Vanessa employs a range of approaches, including Somatic Experiencing (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), to provide tailored support for her clients.
Vanessa is an approved service provider with FNHA, CVAP, and AG Safe BC, and is currently accepting new clients for in-person, virtual, and telephone sessions.

At Plum Counselling, we offer sessions with a gentle approach. Our practice combines various therapeutic approaches to support children, youth, adults, and families.
Our practice is rooted in trauma-informed and trauma-responsive practices. We specialize in supporting persons affected by trauma and gender-based violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and childhood abuse. Understanding that trauma impacts how connections are made and sustained, we provide a supportive space to explore relationships, boundaries, coping strategies, grounding techniques, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation.

Crime Victim Assistance Provider (CVAP) Service Provider
The Crime Victim Assistance Program provides financial assistance and benefits to victims of violent crime, their immediate family members and some witnesses.
We assist and provide support with CVAP applications.
Plum offers counselling services at NO COST for persons accessing CVAP.

At Plum, we are continually working on decolonizing our practice. Plum strongly advocates for cultural sensitivity and competency in therapy. Plum’s Indigenous centred practices include building a comfortable and inclusive space for Indigenous children, youth, adults, and families to explore mental health, trauma, goals, stories, and healing. Plum supports culturally-responsive and sensitive therapy through decolonized practices.
Counselling appointments are at NO COST for persons accessing FNHA benefits.
